About the Position
This internship position is within the marketing and communications department at NASPA, where you will have the opportunity to experience and aide the organization with different marketing initiatives. A successful candidate will be a team player who can manage multiple marketing projects in a remote environment. This role requires writing and communication skills, an understanding of social media and email marketing, and the desire to learn more first-hand.
Essential Responsibilities
Draft emails promoting events, webinars, & initiatives, utilizing NASPA’s Style Guide and Hubspot.
Partner with the assistant director of marketing and communications on social media efforts via various channels including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
Build and modify social media graphics in Canva in partnership with the creative campaigns manager, including event posts, announcements, membership spotlights, etc.
Support the Marketing and Communications Team with any writing or marketing needs as requested
Assists with all-team projects and participates actively in staff meetings and projects.
Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned to support the association.

Qualifications
Experience considering the impacts of work on multiple diverse communities in analysis.
Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Demonstrated commitment to cultivating an inclusive work environment that values the perspectives and lived experiences of a diverse workforce and membership.
Employment Status
Part-time Non-Exempt: Nonexempt employees are those employees who are covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, and are eligible to be paid overtime work in accordance with the provisions of applicable wage and hour laws.
Pay and Schedule
The pay for this position is $17.00/hr up to 20 hours per week. Schedule will be determined based on academic needs within regular business hours (8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.). This application is for the Summer 2023 semester. Based on interest and needs by either party, this position may be extended. Office Location/Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

This position may be based anywhere in the contiguous 48 states.
It is the employee’s responsibility to provide reliable internet capabilities for any work location outside of the Washington, D.C. office.
Please note, the NASPA Washington, D.C. Office is in mostly-open status at this time. The status of the office is subject to change at any time.
Travel
This position will not require travel.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily office-based with primary work on a computer, including phone, email, and video conferencing.
This position may be required to pack and unpack program materials for shipment, which will require pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
This position may be required to coordinate on-site event execution, which may include moving furniture and other items, navigating event spaces, and communicating verbally with venue staff.
Additional COVID-19 Information
Vaccination is not a requirement for employment. However, all employees are strongly encouraged to follow the CDC guidance on vaccination, including becoming fully-vaccinated and staying up-to-date as eligible. All employees may flex their schedules for time taken to receive and recover from COVID-19 vaccinations.
In certain circumstances, NASPA may require testing for all staff regardless of vaccination status.
Masks must be worn per local, state, tribal, and federal guidance, including the CDC, with the most stringent level of guidance followed. Regardless of guidance, all employees must have masks available should masking be requested by other employees, members, or external constituents. In certain settings, NASPA may require or strongly recommend that employees wear masks.
At the present time, NASPA will not require any employee to participate in in-person activities on behalf of the Association, regardless of their individual job duties. Job duties related to these activities will be conducted remotely where possible or reassigned as necessary.
